Supported AI coding tools
Blamely works with the AI coding tools below. blamely install looks for each of them on your machine and wires up only the ones it finds; install another one later and blamely repair picks it up.
Claude Code
Claude Desktop
Cursor Composer / Chat
Cursor Tab
GitHub Copilot
Codex CLI
Gemini CLI
Devin CLI
Devin IDE
Devin Cloud
OpenCode (V1 / V2)
gen type how the code was produced signal how Blamely sees it
Every tool is attributed per line, with the model that wrote it, unless a section below says otherwise. The gen type says how the code was produced: chat for an edit applied from a conversation, agent for an agent working on its own, cli for a terminal agent, completion for an accepted inline suggestion. Detection model explains each signal in full.
Claude Code
Blamely installs a PostToolUse hook in Claude Code’s settings. Every file Claude Code edits or writes is recorded as it happens, and files it changes through a shell command are picked up too. Sessions in the Claude Desktop app are followed through its logs.
Cursor
Composer and chat edits arrive through the same kind of hook Claude Code uses, so they are exact to the line. Accepted Tab completions are different: only the editor sees them, so they need the Blamely extension for Cursor.
GitHub Copilot
Copilot is followed in three places: chat edits and inline completions in VS Code and the JetBrains IDEs, through the editor extension and Copilot’s own logs, and the Copilot CLI through a hook. Install the extension for VS Code or JetBrains to have completions attributed.
Codex CLI
OpenAI’s Codex CLI changes files by applying patches. Blamely reads each patch from Codex’s hook and its session log and records the lines it added.
Gemini CLI
Blamely registers a hook in Gemini CLI’s settings and records every file the agent writes or replaces, including the ones it writes through a shell command.
Devin
Devin works in three places, and Blamely follows each one differently:
| Surface | How it is detected | Attribution |
|---|---|---|
| Devin CLI | A hook, like Claude Code | per line |
| Devin IDE, local session | The IDE’s session databases | per line |
| Devin Cloud | The Co-Authored-By trailer on the commits it sends back | whole commit |
Set up Devin has the details.
OpenCode
OpenCode V1 and V2 are both supported. OpenCode has no hook commands of its own, so blamely install puts a small plugin in OpenCode’s config directory (~/.config/opencode/plugins), which reports each edit OpenCode makes to the Blamely daemon on your machine. Restart OpenCode after installing so it loads the plugin.
Editors
The CLI attributes code whichever editor you write in. The editor extensions add two things: the attribution shown beside your code, and the inline completions only an editor can see.
