Privacy policy

This policy explains what Blamely (“we”) collects when you use the Blamely CLI, the editor extensions and this website, why, and what we never see. The short version: your code and its attribution stay on your machine and in your own repository, and this site keeps only what you choose to send it.
The CLI and the editor extensions
- No telemetry, no analytics. The CLI, its background daemon and the editor extensions do not report usage, crashes or anything else to us.
- Your code is not uploaded. Blamely attributes lines on your machine. Its working data lives under
~/.blamely, and the result is written to your own repository as git notes (refs/notes/blamely). It reaches a server only if you push those notes to a remote of your choosing. - No account is needed to install or use them. See Privacy and data in the guide for exactly what is stored and where.
- Downloads of the installers come from this site and from GitHub. Like any download, the request carries your IP address.
When you write to us
The contact form stores your name, email address, company if given, and message, and mails them to our support inbox. We use them only to answer you.
This website
- Server logs record each request’s address, time and path for security and troubleshooting. The site is served through Cloudflare, which processes the same request data to protect it from attacks.
- Forms are protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks that a request comes from a person. It runs on the forms of this site only, such as the contact form.
- Analytics are opt-in. Google Analytics loads, and sets its cookies, only after you choose Allow. Page addresses are sent without their query, so links that carry a code are never recorded. You can at any time, and a browser that sends Global Privacy Control is treated as a refusal.
Who else handles it
We do not sell personal data or share it for advertising. It is handled on our behalf by the providers that run the site: Amazon Web Services (hosting and database), Cloudflare (network protection and the form check), our email provider (delivering the email this site sends) and Google (analytics, if you allow it).
How long we keep it
Contact messages are kept for as long as the conversation needs and the records we must keep. Server logs are kept for a short period and then discarded.
Your choices
You can ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, have it corrected, or have it deleted. Write to support@blamely.ai from the address it concerns and we will act on it. If you believe we have handled your data wrongly, you may also complain to your data protection authority.
Changes
When this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it, and a change that matters is announced on the changelog.
